REPORT.

In accordance with the instructions conveyed in your minute dated the 8th of January, 1914, en 0.5.0. Correspondence File No.6037/1913 the Committee appointed therein have duly considered the report on the Yaumati Ferry and other Hongkong Ferries dated the 15th December, 1913, submitted by Mr. E. R. Hallifax, Secretary for

Chinese Affeire.

Your Committee sulmit herewith the following

dated the 15th December, 1913.

B. Minutes of the first meeting of the Committee

held on the 30th January, 1914.

C. Minutes of the second meeting of the Committee held on the 13th February, 1914.

D. Minute by the Crown Solicitor dated the 7th

February, 1914.

E.

Draft bill to amend the Piers Ordinance, 1899.

F. Draft bill to Regulate Ferries.

G.

A report on piers on Central and West Prays,

Victoria, and at Kowloon.

H. Two maps in envelope to illustrate G.

3. Your Committee have considered it desirable to restrict their recommendations to the ferries plying betw- -een Victoria and Yaumati and Sham Shui Po. They have arrived at this conclusion because these ferries are not only the most important, but are those most in need of regulation by the Government, and because any principles followed in the case of these ferries could, if required,

be extended to other ferries.
